Somatic Support for Perimenopause
Your body is changing. Your nervous system needs a new way to find calm.
Somatic coaching and education, separate from psychotherapy and medical care.
Perimenopause can arrive quietly and then take over. You wake at 3 a.m. with your heart pounding. Anxiety shows up out of nowhere. You snap at people you love, cry at things that never used to bother you, and feel foggy, wired, and exhausted all at once. You may feel as if your body has been highjacked and your nervous system is on fire.
You are not losing your mind. Hormonal shifts hit the nervous system hard, and a body that can't rest stays stuck on high alert. Talking about it helps. But often, what's missing is a way to help your body feel safe again.
That's what somatic support is for. Wherever you live in the world, we can meet online and work directly with your nervous system through this transition.
Does this sound familiar?
You're exhausted but can't fall asleep, or can't stay asleep
Anxiety, dread, or a racing heart that seems to come from nowhere
Sudden rage, irritability, or tears
Feeling wired and tired at the same time
Brain fog and feeling less like yourself
Tension, aches, or a body that feels unfamiliar
Knowing what's happening, but not knowing how to feel better
What is somatic work?
Somatic means "of the body." Instead of only talking through what you're feeling, we pay attention to how it shows up physically: your breath, muscle tension, heart rate, the urge to move or freeze.
I draw on my training in Somatic Experiencing, a body-based approach to calming an overwhelmed nervous system. Together, we will gently notice what your body is doing, build your capacity to move through stress, and help your system find its way back to rest. Nothing is forced. We go at the speed of your nervous system.
What we work on together
Sleep: calming the body before bed and working with middle-of-the-night wake-ups
Anxiety and overwhelm: recognizing activation early and bringing yourself back down
Mood swings and irritability: creating space between the trigger and your reaction
Feeling at home in your body: reconnecting with a body that may feel unfamiliar right now
Identity and transition: making room for the grief, freedom, and questions this season can bring
You will leave each session with simple practices you can use in daily life.
What can change
More nights of real rest
Fewer moments of feeling hijacked by anxiety or anger
Tools to steady yourself, anywhere, anytime
Feeling more like yourself, in a body that's changing
How it works
First session: We talk about what you're experiencing, what you want to change, and how your body tends to respond to stress. This is not therapy nor is is a medical evaluation. We will start working with your nervous system from day one.
Ongoing sessions: Each session blends conversation, not psychotherapy, with gentle body-based practices you can take with you.
Sessions are held online by secure, HIPAA compliant, Zoom video, so you can join from anywhere in the world.
Session length and fee: $150 per hour through Zelle or Venmo, and is not eligible for insurance reimbursement or a superbill as it is not psychotherapy.
Who this is for
This is for anyone in perimenopause, or approaching it, who wants practical, body-based support for sleep, anxiety, and mood. All identities are welcome.
This may not be the right fit if you are in crisis, seeking a diagnosis, or needing medical or psychiatric care. In those cases, please reach out to a local provider or emergency services.
Important to know
