Couples Therapy in Show Low & Across Arizona
Subhead: For couples who love each other and are tired of feeling far apart.
Couples therapy is available for adults living in Arizona and Missouri. I work from an Emotionally Focused, Somatic Experiencing, and Somatic Sex Therapy lens. Together, we will look at the cycle you keep getting stuck in, slow things down, and pay attention to what is happening in each of your nervous systems. Most couples aren't short on love. They have just stopped speaking the same language.
Here are some of the places we may start:
My approach is
Gentle: we go at the speed of your nervous systems
Compassionate: you will both be met with curiosity in this space
Relational: we explore the attachment systems within your partnership
Evidence-based and ethically sound
I work with couples across diverse identities and relationship structures, including LGBTQIA+, consensually non-monogamous, and non-traditional partnerships, and with both neurodivergent and neurotypical partners.

You share a home, a calendar, maybe kids and a mortgage. But somewhere along the way, you stopped really seeing each other. Conversations are about logistics. Affection feels rare or awkward. You may not even fight much anymore. You just feel lonely next to the person you chose.
This kind of distance usually doesn't happen all at once. It builds slowly, one missed moment at a time. Together, we will find where you drifted, understand what each of you needs, and practice turning back toward each other again.

The topic changes, but the fight feels the same. One of you pushes to talk, the other shuts down or pulls away. One of you feels criticized, the other feels ignored. By the end, you both feel hurt and nothing gets solved.
You're not fighting about the dishes. You're fighting about whether you matter to each other. I help couples see the pattern underneath the argument, so you can stop blaming each other and start working together against the cycle. I am comfortable with high-conflict couples and big emotions.

Maybe one of you wants sex more than the other. Maybe sex has become a source of pressure, rejection, or avoidance. Maybe it just quietly disappeared after kids, stress, or years together, and at least one of you feels neglected.
As a Certified Sex Therapist, I help couples understand why desire changes and how to rebuild sexual connection without pressure or blame. Emotional safety and physical intimacy feed each other. When one improves, the other usually follows.

Midlife can shake up a relationship. Sleep falls apart. Moods shift. One partner may be going through perimenopause while the other is trying to understand what changed. Kids leave home, careers shift, and you may find yourselves asking who you are as a couple now.
Together, we will make sense of what is happening in your bodies and your relationship. Partners learn how to support each other through this season instead of taking every hard moment personally.

We all bring our families into our relationships. The way your parents fought, loved, or avoided each other often shows up in your own partnership, even when you swore it wouldn't.
In couples work, we explore how each of your histories feeds the cycle you're stuck in. When you understand where your partner's reactions come from, it becomes easier to respond with compassion instead of defensiveness.
