Couples Counseling in Show Low & the White Mountains of Arizona
When you feel alone in your relationship, everything is harder. Couples counseling at EROS helps you step out of the pattern that keeps you apart, so you can feel safe, close and understood again. Sessions are in person in Show Low, in Arizona's White Mountains, and online anywhere in Arizona and Missouri.
Does this sound familiar?
You talk about schedules and chores, but rarely about each other.
One of you pushes for closeness while the other pulls away.
The same argument keeps coming back, word for word.
Your partner shows love by working hard and fixing things, but you still feel unseen.
Affection or sex has faded, and neither of you knows how to bring it back.
Trust has been broken, and you're not sure whether it can be rebuilt.
If you nodded along, you're not failing. You're caught in a pattern, and patterns can change.
What we work on
Emotional disconnection and feeling like roommates
Conflict that escalates or ends in silence
Rebuilding trust after an affair, pornography concerns or other betrayal
Mismatched desire and fading intimacy
Life transitions: new babies, blended families, empty nests, midlife, retirement and relocating to the mountains
Family patterns that show up in your marriage
How couples counseling works here
We slow things down. We map the cycle you get stuck in: who reaches, who retreats, and what each of you is protecting.
We find what's underneath. Beneath criticism is often "I miss you." Beneath withdrawal is often "I'm afraid I'll fail you."
We practice new conversations. You learn to ask for what you need and respond in ways that build safety, using tools from Emotionally Focused Therapy and the Gottman Method interventions.
We include the body. Gentle, body-based tools help you both stay calm enough to stay connected.
We rebuild closeness. As safety grows, emotional and physical intimacy have room to return.
Both sides of the street
Couples counseling here isn't about picking a winner. Each partner owns their part, and each partner's pain matters. Hesitant partners, including many men, often find this the first time they've felt understood rather than blamed.

Couples counseling questions
What if my partner won't come? You can start with individual therapy. When one partner changes how they show up, the whole pattern often shifts.
How long does couples counseling take? Many couples notice change within a few months of regular sessions. Intensives can speed that up.
Is it too late for us? Couples come in after months or decades of distance and find their way back. Distance isn't the end of the story.
Can couples counseling help after an affair? Yes. We work to understand what led to the rupture, repair the harm, and rebuild trust at a pace that respects both partners.
