Somatic Therapy in Show Low & the White Mountains of Arizona

You can understand exactly why you react the way you do and still feel your chest tighten, your stomach drop, or your mind go blank when conflict starts. That's because some patterns live in the body, not just the mind. Somatic therapy helps you settle your nervous system and feel safe in your own skin. I offer it to individuals and couples in Show Low and throughout Arizona's White Mountains.

What is somatic therapy?

Somatic therapy works with the body's natural ability to recover from stress and overwhelm. Instead of only talking about what happened, we gently notice sensations, breath, posture and impulses, and help your body complete responses that got stuck. Over time, your nervous system learns it's safe to relax, connect and feel.

What a session feels like

  • Slow and gentle. We go at your body's pace, never pushing into overwhelm.

  • Present-focused. You don't have to retell painful stories in detail.

  • Resource-building. You learn to find calm and steadiness in your own body.

  • Relational. In couples work, we notice how each of your bodies reacts to the other, and practice staying connected when you feel activated.

Who somatic therapy helps

  • People who feel anxious, on edge or shut down in relationships

  • Anyone who has "talked it through" in therapy but still feels stuck

  • People healing from betrayal, relational trauma or painful family patterns

  • Those who feel disconnected from their body, pleasure or desire

  • Couples whose arguments escalate faster than either can control

My somatic training

I'm an Arizona Licensed Clinical Social Worker currently in Intermediate-level training in Somatic Experiencing, a body-based approach to resolving stress and trauma. I integrate somatic work with couples therapy, individual therapy and sex therapy.
