Trauma Therapy in Show Low & the White Mountains
You've been through a lot, and you're done pretending you haven't. Trauma isn't only what happened. It's what your body learned to do to survive it: bracing, numbing, pleasing, staying on guard. Those responses once protected you. Now they may be getting in the way of the closeness, rest and joy you want. I offer gentle, body-based trauma therapy for adults in Show Low, throughout Arizona's White Mountains, and online across Arizona.

Relational trauma can look like
Feeling on edge, jumpy or unable to relax, even when life is calm
Going numb, blank or far away during conflict or intimacy
Saying yes to keep the peace, then feeling resentful or empty
Struggling to trust, even people who've earned it
Strong reactions that feel bigger than the moment
Feeling disconnected from your body, pleasure or desire
Kinds of relational trauma I work with
Hurt in close relationships. Emotional neglect, control, chronic criticism or a partner who made you feel unsafe.
Betrayal trauma. The shock and aftermath of an affair, hidden pornography use or broken trust.
Childhood and family relational trauma. Growing up too fast, caring for a parent, or living with unpredictability.
Family patterns passed down. Pain, silence and survival strategies that echo across generations. [Generational Healing →]
Sexual shame. Messages about bodies and sexuality that left you feeling wrong or afraid.
How relational trauma healing works here
Safety first. We build steadiness and resources before touching anything painful.
Listening to the body. With somatic and polyvagal-informed tools, we notice how your nervous system responds, and help it complete responses that got stuck.
Small steps. We work with manageable pieces, so you never have to relive everything at once.
Reconnecting. As your body feels safer, closeness, trust and pleasure have room to return.
I'm an Arizona Licensed Clinical Social Worker currently in Intermediate-level Somatic Experiencing training, a body-based approach to resolving stress and trauma.
Is outpatient therapy the right level of care?
Private-practice relational trauma therapy is a good fit for adults who are safe day to day and want to heal patterns affecting their lives and relationships. If you need daily structure or crisis support, an intensive outpatient program (IOP) or higher level of care may be the right starting point, and I'm glad to help you think it through.
Relational trauma therapy in the White Mountains
In-person sessions are at my Show Low office, a private and calm space serving Pinetop-Lakeside, Snowflake, Taylor, Heber-Overgaard and the wider White Mountains. Online sessions are available anywhere in Arizona and Missouri, which many clients prefer for privacy in a small town.
Relational trauma therapy questions
Do I have to talk about what happened in detail? No. Body-based relational trauma therapy works without retelling every detail. You stay in charge of what we explore and when.
What if I don't think my experience was "bad enough" to be relational trauma? If something still affects how you feel, react or connect, it deserves care. There's no threshold you have to meet.
Can relational trauma affect my marriage or sex life? Often, yes. Relational trauma shapes how safe closeness feels. Healing it frequently opens the door to deeper connection and intimacy.
What if I'm in crisis? EROS doesn't provide crisis services. If you're in immediate danger, call 911, or call or text 988 for the Suicide & Crisis Lifeline.
