Generational Healing in Show Low & the White Mountains
Some of what you carry didn't start with you. The anxiety your mother had. The silence your father kept. The way your family never talked about what happened, only worked harder and smiled. Pain, fear and survival strategies get passed down through families, often without anyone meaning to. Generational healing helps women, men and couples in Show Low, across Arizona's White Mountains and online throughout Arizona understand what they inherited and choose what ends with them.
Signs of a generational wound
You see your parents' patterns in yourself, even the ones you swore you'd never repeat.
Your family has unspoken rules: don't cry, don't need, don't talk about it.
You grew up taking care of a parent, or being the strong one far too young.
Addiction, divorce, anger, anxiety or secrets show up generation after generation.
You feel a heaviness or grief you can't fully explain.
You're a parent now, and you're determined that your kids won't carry what you did.
How generational healing works
Mapping your family story. Together, we build a map of your family across generations: the relationships, losses, roles and patterns that repeat.
Understanding without blame. We look at what your parents and grandparents lived through, so you can understand them without excusing harm.
Feeling it in the body. Inherited patterns often live in the nervous system. Somatic and polyvagal-informed work helps your body release what it's been holding.
Choosing something new. You decide which family strengths to keep, which patterns to end, and how to show up differently with your partner and children.
Healing for you, and for the generations around you
When one person heals, the effects ripple outward: to partners, to children, sometimes even to parents. Many clients describe feeling as if they're healing not only for themselves, but for the people who came before them and the ones who will come after. Whatever meaning that holds for you, it's welcome here.
Rooted in the White Mountains
Many families in the White Mountains have lived here for generations, with deep ties of land, faith and community. Those roots can be a great strength, and they can also make family patterns feel impossible to question. Therapy offers a private place to honor where you come from while choosing your own path. In-person sessions are at my Show Low office, and online sessions are available anywhere in Arizona and Missouri.
Generational healing questions
Do I have to blame my parents? No. Generational healing is about understanding, not blame. Most parents passed down what was passed down to them. We can hold compassion and still name harm.
What if I don't know much about my family history? That's common. We work with what you know, what you feel and what shows up in your life now. You don't need a complete family tree.
Can generational healing help me as a parent? Yes. Many clients come specifically because they want to break a cycle for their children.
How is this connected to relational trauma and attachment? Closely. The way your parents were loved shaped how they loved you, which shaped how you love now. Generational, attachment and relational trauma healing are woven together in my work. [Attachment Healing →] [Relational Trauma Healing →]
